This is one of two Sundays in Year C where the Lectionary offers a choice of psalm. If I remember correctly Psalm 68 was the choice in the first edition of the Lectionary (i.e. Ordo Lectionum Missae; Psalm 18 given in the second edition. The editors of our '83 Lectionary decided to keep both. The first, which we use this Sunday, seems to be the song of the Samaritan, whereas the second fits better with the theme of the Law. I went with the first because it is not a psalm we hear as much - and Psalm 18 provided the text of our Opening Song.
