Entrance | Dear Lord and Father |
Penitential Rite | Mass of Wisdom (Steve Janco) |
Gloria | Mass of Wisdom (Steve Janco) |
Psalm 24 | Lord, make me know your ways (mtgf) |
Gospel Acclamation | Salisbury (Christopher Walker) |
Preparation of Gifts | Lord, you have come to the seashore |
Eucharistic Acclamations | Creation (Marty Haugen) |
Lamb of God | Remembrance (Marty Haugen) |
Communion | In love you summon (John Bell) |
Final | Will you come and follow me (John Bell) |
I forgotten to prepare a Mass sheet so that it meant people had a chance to listen to the new Gloria and it will be another week before we introduce the Eucharistic Acclamations.
We had a new visiting priest before Mass who demanded that all hymns be short as they were usually irrelevant and people did not sing them. I hope our choices this morning were relevant. The predominant theme was the invitation to follow Christ but the idea of repentance was also present both in the Entrance Hymn and at Communion. The Iona chant I paired with some verses from Psalm 26.
Blimey. I hope you told him where to go. Amazing how someone could be a guest, and utterly fail to behave like one.
ReplyDeleteSeconded and thirded.
ReplyDeleteDisgraceful!
We had a visiting priest who managed to wear his chasuble inside out – but he still joined us with a joyful heart.
In fact, fourthed!
I did politely ask whether he was in a hurry. To be fair at the end of Mass he did come over and thank us. One also suspects that doing supply in parishes one may come across less good practice. However I would also note that he preached for about 15 minutes - this had a certain irony particularly if he had stopped after the first 5 it would have been a good homily!
