Final Hail Redeemer

This was the first Sunday when all the regular members were together for quite awhile. We also welcomed a new member. I always find it hard for new members - to a greater or lesser extent we relying on the repetition of Mass parts over a season and an evolving repertoire that can be drawn upon. It means that week 1 is very unfamiliar and possibly even worse at the end of a season, as next week even the Mass parts will change for the most part.

Final At the name of Jesus

As usual we were joined by the University Choir this morning.

I was pleased with the Mendelssohn, which is a lovely piece. The text is Luther's translation of Da pacem, Domine so in its plea for peace in times of conflict it was a fitting text for today, in its explicit reference to mercy it fitted with the ending of the Year of Mercy from this Sunday, and as a bit of Luther it also noted the anniversary of the reformation.

32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Final Love divine

Not the easiest set of readings to choose from. The editors of the Lectionary obviously had the resurrection of the body in mind but surface stories of martyrdom and marriage provide a possible distraction. I am not sure when we did the first hymn last - but it fitted very well.
